The Studio

Our client is an independent creative agency based in London and Amsterdam. Their team of over 100 employees weaves together a diverse range of skills: from graphic, product, spatial and interaction design to moving image, writing, research and strategy.

Without knowing it, you’ve probably seen or experienced something they have had a hand in. Over the last 20 years, they have quietly shaped the future of some of the world’s most well-known brands as well as creating others you’ll soon get to discover. Their work is wide-reaching, from defining brand visions to building identities and designing experiences.

The Opportunity

They are looking for an experienced part-time (3 day week) HR Business Partner to lead their People team in developing initiatives that ensure their company retains talent, has minimal staff turnover and is viewed as a favourable employer and place of work. This will initially be a 12 month fixed term contract.

In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, managing and resolving people related risks to the company, while ensuring that best practices are adhered to. You’ll act as a business partner to stakeholders, providing coaching and guidance on all aspects of HR & ER across the business. You’ll champion the wider people agenda, supporting a focus on growth, performance, engagement, talent development and culture.

As the most senior member of the People team, it is your responsibility to direct and mentor the 3 person team to deliver an 'open door’, approachable and caring service to all members of staff across their two studios in London and Amsterdam.

You will also be one of their Data Privacy Officers, which involves monitoring compliance and educating and advising staff about their obligations to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Past experience gained in a creative or agency environment would be useful due to the fast pace of agency life.
  • International experience is a plus as you will be supporting their Amsterdam studio.
  • Comprehensive understanding of how the HR function makes a company successful.
  • Up to date knowledge of HR laws, regulations and best practices, continuously learning and equipping the wider team with knowledge.
  • The ability to provide coaching to Leadership and Management on team management issues and employee relations policy.
  • Senior-level troubleshooting and workplace conflict management experience, including redundancy, performance management, and exit process etc.
  • Experience of devising and implementing new HR processes and practices in areas that include compensation and benefits, performance management, employee engagement surveys, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Ability to analyse HR-related data, report on risks, trends, KPIs, and areas for improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that allow for an open and approachable HR service to all staff.
  • Experience of audits and legal compliance.
