An excellent opportunity for an experienced Hydraulic Technician to join a well-established company based in Birtley, Gateshead.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.

Location: Gateshead.

Salary: £14.00 - £17.00 per hour, negotiable Depending on Experience.

About the Role:

The company’s hydraulic technicians are responsible for assembling, maintaining and repairing equipment and machines that use pressurized fluids to carry power from one place to another. They are responsible for fabricating, repairing, installing and commissioning hydraulic and mechanical systems.

It is expected that the Hydraulic Technicians must have a good understanding of the principles of hydraulics and the components of hydraulic systems. Hand and power tools, as well as specialised testing and measuring equipment will be used as part of the role.

This position will provide a varied and challenging role, with the opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their skills and industry knowledge, while we support you in your personal career progression

Main Duties:

  • Mechanical and hydraulic assembly of systems against drawings.
  • Testing and commissioning of electro-hydraulic systems.
  • To diagnose and repair electro-hydraulic components.
  • Bending of rigid tube and pipes using manual and electrical bender.
  • Manufacture of hose assemblies.
  • Flushing of hose assemblies, pipework, and complete systems.
  • Pressure testing of hose assemblies and pipework.
  • Replacement of components on hydraulic systems.
  • Servicing of hydraulic systems in autonomy.
  • Fault finding on electro-hydraulic systems.
  • To ensure that all work carried out complies with instructions given.
  • To be aware of activity (task) target hours and make every effort to ensure that these targets are achieved or bettered.
  • To preserve and maintain all company tools and equipment in your care.
  • Always comply to internal and customer site regulations and HSEQ guidelines.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical/control systems.
  • Conscious of the safety of themselves and others in the area in which they are working.
  • Knowledge of different type of hydraulic fittings.
  • Able to read mechanical drawings.
  • Able to manufacture rigid pipework.
  • Able to read and understand hydraulic schematic and symbols.
  • Able to read and understand basic electrical diagram.
  • Able to carry out maintenance and repair on hydraulic systems.
  • Experience in diagnosing faults and repairing electro-hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to work to strict safety standards.
  • Good knowledge of general engineering practices such as measuring/ marking off/ manual drilling and tapping.
  • Knowledge and experience of cleanliness requirements in hydraulics and Pressure Testing
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar role
  • Minimum Qualification 4 Year Engineering Apprenticeship.
  • Clear communicator both written and verbal.
  • Eligible to work permanently in the UK.
  • Full driving licence.

  • The completion of tasks on time.
  • No quality issues or customer complaints arising from completed work.
  • Compliance to the company’s core processes.
  • Correct completion of paperwork.
