Immigration Support Worker - Slough

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Immigration Support Worker to join our Rough Sleeping team in Slough.

THE ROLE
As an Immigration Support Worker, your main responsibility will be to support EEA nationals with EUSS applications and signpost clients from the rest of the world to the appropriate services. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Managing a caseload of approximately 40 cases.
  • Providing support from our main office (Mallards), our second hostel (Victoria St), or our third hostel (Herschel St).
  • Covering support required for residents and maintaining the buildings.
  • Reporting and addressing any incidents or issues.
  • Participating in outreach sessions with a rough sleeper officer, up to once a week.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with partner agencies, including ASC, Police, and Turning Point.
  • Supporting clients to attend their immigration appointments.
  • Working flexible hours and responding to the service's needs.
  • Collaborating closely with the Rough Sleeping team and partner agencies to provide holistic care for clients.
  • Developing and maintaining individualized support plans for clients.
  • Monitoring client progress and adapting support strategies as necessary.


THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years' experience in the legal sector or a similar field, with a focus on immigration. You must be OISC Level 1 qualified and registered. Additional experience required includes:

  • Providing support to individuals experiencing homelessness and immigrants with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of immigration laws and processes, including those related to asylum, visas, and refugee status.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with cultural sensitivity and empathy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.


THE CONTRACT

  • 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • 3 months, potential temp to perm.
