An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Construction Lawyer to take the helm of our client's legal department. This role offers the unique chance to build a construction team from scratch, providing comprehensive legal support to their construction arm. Projects range from large frameworks supporting capital investment to specialist engineering, asset management, and inspection services.

What you'll do:

As an In-House Construction Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support across a broad range of non-contentious and contentious construction matters. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing and drafting contracts, conducting risk assessments, implementing policies and procedures, and managing multiple complex legal matters.

You will:

  • Provide comprehensive legal support to the construction arm, including reviewing and drafting contracts, negotiating and completing legal risk reviews, and supporting commercial risk review.
  • Draft board papers for projects at pre-tender, tender and post-tender stage.
  • Review and draft collateral warranties, NDAs, parent company guarantees, retention, performance bonds and framework agreements.
  • Work with standard form construction contracts: JCT, NEC and FIDIC as well as bespoke client agreements.
  • Implement policies and procedures to support bid teams, quantity surveyors and commercial managers.
  • Manage multiple complex legal matters simultaneously with integrity and discretion.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this In-House Construction Lawyer position brings a wealth of experience in both non-contentious and contentious construction matters.

You are qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales with around 5 years PQE.
