Information Governance Team Leader


Our client, a dynamic and ambitious local authority, is seeking an Information Governance Team Leader to join their Legal and Democratic Services team.


As the Information Governance Team Leader, you will take on the pivotal role of Data Protection Officer, providing strategic direction and expert advice on data protection and information management across the organisation. You will lead a dedicated team to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:


• Lead and manage the Information Governance team, consisting of an Access to Information Officer and an Access to Information Rights Coordinator
• Act as the principal contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office
• Provide expert advice on data protection and access to information rights
• Ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR), the UKGDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA2018)
• Investigate and report on data protection incidents
• Conduct data protection audits and reviews
• Oversee information governance training.


About you:


• Previous working experience and expert knowledge of information governance
• Previous experience of advising internal customers on data protection and information governance
• The ability to confidently communicate with a range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority
• Experience of FOIA and UKGDPR
