Interim Accountant

Robert Half have an excellent opportunity for an Interim Accountant role with a large, private equity-backed business based in Gloucester. This highly acquisitive company is seeking a skilled professional to join their team for a 3-4-month contract, offering a competitive daily rate of £250-£300 via Umbrella.

The role requires an immediate start and offers a flexible work arrangement of 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.

Key Responsibilities:

Management Accounts

• Prepare and post prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and amortisation.
• Update balance sheet working files throughout the month-end process.
• Own the monthly management accounts and reporting packs for various companies.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and explain any required adjustments.
• Prepare commission calculations.
• Process VAT returns.
• Create intercompany reports for internal usage.

P&L Analysis:

• Review P&L for activity performed by others and justify any variances.
• Provide detailed revenue and cost variance analysis to budget holders.
• Support accurate divisional and group reporting and analysis.

Ad Hoc Supportive Tasks (NICE TO HAVE not essential):

• Prepare financial year-end audit packs and liaise with auditors.
• Provide information for statutory reporting and review draft statutory accounts.
• Support the budgeting/forecasting process with relevant information and analysis.
• Improve the timing, content, and accuracy of financial and management reporting.
• Maintain and improve procedure and process documents.
