Interim Finance Director

Our client, an SME construction/fit out Business in Stafford, is looking for an immediately available Interim Finance Director / CFO to support the company through the next exciting phase of its growth journey. This business has a long history of success in its sector that has been underpinned by the development of a broad service offering which continues to grow. Due to this continued growth, there is a need to appoint an experienced FD to support and guide the business through this next period of exciting change.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage day-to-day financial operations
• Maintain and improve strong finance governance and financial control environment
• Challenge commercial business areas to maximise opportunities and ensure accountability
• Provide commercial & strategic support and decision-making across the business
• Ensure the finance reporting is best in class, fully compliant and provides meaningful commentary for senior management
• Strong support to the MD as part of a small senior management team in driving business growth both in the UK and overseas, especially Germany
• Setting short, medium and long term budgets and plans, with an eventual exit a possibility

Experience Includes:

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Experience in an SME environment ideally in a projects-based industry
• International exposure with a focus on Germany
• Technically very strong but also strong commercial awareness
• Of an inquisitive nature to ensure you can identify areas of improvement and offer solutions
• Confident and clear communicator with an ability to support senior management
• Focus on maximising profitability
• Operational experience including R&D, HR, IT, legal

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant and be a hands-on self-starter used to supporting a business through ambitious international growth in an SME environment with a longer term view of setting the business up for a potential exit in the future. You will be an approachable finance team player, with a dedication to ensuring the finance function is working at its best. You will need to be immediately available. This role could become permanent for the right candidate.
