We are looking for an experienced Qualified Accountant for a range of Year-end and financial control Projects for this diverse public sector organisation. Paying between £350-400 a day (Umbrella) for a 4-6 month period. This would suit a strong technical accountant who has worked across either Not-for-profit charities or other public sector bodies, you will have an eye for detail and spotting areas for improvement.

THE JOB

  • Supporting the Head of Finance you will support the Year-end close, complete the Group annual report and accounts
  • Liaise with and assist external auditor in respect of annual financial statements and related matters for the year-end group audit, including liaising with auditors and providing information on a timely basis
  • Draft the annual report and accounts for all subsidiary organisations and manage the associated audit process
  • Provide information and advice on all taxation-related matters, including review of HMRC returns 
  • Support the month-end closure and look at ways to automate and improve the efficiencies
  • Work alongside the ledger teams and support process reviews to increase accuracy
  • Ensure the operation of robust internal controls within existing and proposed processes and systems
  • Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to review and map Finance system workflows
  • Finance systems documentation including current process maps, control guidance, and user guides

THE PERSON

  • Fully qualified accountant
  • Experience gained in the Public Sector, Charity, or a similar Not for Profit regulated sector
  • Strong Excel and financial systems development
  • Robust financial control experience
  • You will need to be available to start on short notice
