Exciting opportunity at a local government organisation to support financial budgeting in the education sector. The role involves liaising with budget managers, producing reports, and providing financial advice to schools. This 6-month contract offers flexible working arrangements with mostly remote work. Ideal for candidates with local government and school finance experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support monthly budget monitoring reports, liaising with Budget Managers and Finance Team members, preparing working papers, and providing information for forecasts and Senior Officers.
  • Provide financial advice and model scenarios for the council's Business Change Programme, including the SEN Safety Valve Programme.
  • Assist schools in managing finances, offering advice, supporting financial accounts maintenance, and participating in the Schools Forum.
  • Develop and maintain the Funding Formula for schools, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and council policies.

Additional Information

The location offers a lot of remote working opportunities, with only 2 days per month required in the office. 

Person Specification

  • Experience in supporting budget monitoring and producing financial reports, liaising with Budget Managers and Senior Officers
  • Ability to provide financial advice and model scenarios for business change programmes
  • Experience in supporting schools with financial management, including advising on best practices and funding formulas
  • Familiarity with local government processes and procedures
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of statutory requirements and policies related to financial management in a local government setting
