Do you have experience of working in a pensions team within a local authority? Are you immediately available or on a short notice period?

Robertson Bell are working with a Local Government organisation in London to recruit an Interim Senior Pensions Officer for a 12 month contract. The position offers flexibility and it joins an organisation passionate about development.

The main responsibilities of the Interim Senior Pensions Officer are:

  • Handle complex LGPS administration casework and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Develop a customer-focused service for scheme members, employers, and stakeholders within the Pensions and Treasury team.
  • Seek service efficiencies, identify improvements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage monthly reporting and maintenance of the pension systems, including reporting and reconciliation.
  • Support the Pensions Team Leader with casework authorisation, mailbox management, and quality monitoring.
  • Advise managers and staff on pension issues, draft responses to complex member inquiries, and provide specialist advice on complex or sensitive matters.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have extensive experience in LGPS Administration: Proven track record of handling complex LGPS casework and familiarity with all aspects of pension scheme regulations and HMRC legislation.
  • Have a customer-focused approach: Strong commitment to developing a highly customer-focused service for scheme members, employers, and other stakeholders.
  • Be analytical and improvement-oriented: Proactively seeks service efficiencies, identifies areas for improvement, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Be immediately available or on a short-term notice.
