Are you an experienced senior contractor looking for an exciting interim role?

This role would fit an experienced contractor who has worked at FC level previously that enjoys change and transformation and giving a bit back to more junior team members, someone who enjoys finance problem solving and is willing to get stuck into the detail whilst working in a fast paced environment. Someone who has experienced both SME and PLC environments would also be beneficial

We are currently seeking a skilled and dynamic Senior Project Accountant to support our client on a temp basis, for a six-month contract.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on financial controls and process improvements. You will play a crucial part in ongoing transformation projects, bringing your expertise in balance sheet reconciliations, VAT and PAYE compliance, and intercompany transactions to the table

Job Title: Interim Senior Project Accountant

Location: Gloucester
Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 from home
Duration:
6 months
Rate: £300-£350 per day via Umbrella

Ky Responsibilities:

  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Issue Resolution:
    • Perform thorough balance sheet account reviews and implement actions to resolve long-standing issues.
    • Ensure compliance by reconciling VAT and PAYE items.
  • CIS Compliance:
    • Map out processes and outline responsibilities to ensure CIS compliance and accurate reporting.
  • Intercompany Reporting:
    • Review and improve the intercompany matrix for monthly group reporting.
  • Process Improvements and Development:
    • Identify and implement effective process improvements.
    • Develop and mentor a team of assistant management accountants (3 people).
  • Support for Finance Process Changes:
    • Contribute to the review and validation of commission contracts.
    • Assist with the implementation of new systems and improved spend reporting.
  • Finance Support:
    • Provide cover for other areas of Finance
    • Support the cash allocations team with month-end bank reconciliations.
    • Review cash flow forecasts to ensure they are reasonable before submission to the group.
  • Ad-hoc Support:
    • Provide support for various finance-related requests as needed.
  • Leave Cover for Financial Controller:
    • Provide essential coverage during the Financial Controller's absence during planned holiday particularly during the month-end period.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in project accounting, preferably within a large organisation.
  • Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, VAT, PAYE, and CIS compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and manage financial controls.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior accounting staff.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
