**_We are Hestia. We make a difference._**

At Hestia, we live by our values and are committed to a more equitable,
diverse, and inclusive organisation that provides a variety of services such
as Domestic Abuse, Modern Slavery, Mental Health & Complex Needs and Criminal
Justice. We are committed to empower people to rebuild their lives and regain
independence.

**The service you will work in….**

Approved Premises (AP) work with the highest-risk offenders and provide a
vital element in public protection arrangements. AP offer a ‘stepping stone
from prison to more mainstream community life with a level of contact, support
and supervision that does not exist anywhere else in the probation service.

Residents are seen on a daily basis and staff become involved in the
residents life to a very high degree: giving advice and offering support
whilst exercising control and supervision, all the time liaising with the rest
of the probation service and a wide range of agencies. This intense level of
contact is what enables AP staff to monitor residents well-being, to tailor
support and to be aware of their actions and changes in their behaviour in a
way that no other intervention can.

The role of AP staff is to encourage and facilitate residents to do all that
they can for themselves, rather than to do the work for them. AP staff are not
employed to work for residents, but to empower and enable them to do things
for themselves. AP staff do not organise most residents lives or time for
them. Although some do require help in this aspect of their lives residents
have freedom, including the freedom to make mistakes, even if there are
negative consequences for them. Staff make residents aware of their
responsibilities.

All client-facing staff working in the Approved Premises are subject to a
rolling rota. For day staff this will include a combination of early, late and
weekend shifts, and for Out of Hours workers, this will be night shifts only.
