The Role:
The Man Discretionary Investment Risk team is a part of the second-line risk function within the Man Group Risk function and is responsible for the independent risk management, monitoring and risk-related research across the full range of Discretionary funds (including public and private equity and credit).
This varied and exciting team covers a wide range of strategies, working closely with Portfolio Managers, Investment teams, Technology and the wider group.
This role will focus on risk monitoring, management and risk-related research for Credit related PMs with attention on market and liquidity risk.
Your Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage risk across the business
- Develop expertise in our risk management processes and infrastructure
- Work closely with PMs and investment teams to ensure awareness and suitable challenge to ensure that risk is managed appropriately
- Understand, explain and escalate risk and performance drivers of strategies across the group
- Escalate relevant information to Senior Management in timely fashion, communicated clearly and concisely, to ensure transparency of key risks across strategies
- Closely follow market events, and proactively share risk analysis with the team, senior management and PMs
- Further develop the Man risk management process and broaden awareness and good risk management practices across all functions
- Conduct research into new risk measurement / risk management techniques, working closely with various teams (PM, Quant, Technology) on identification, project management and deployment of new tools
- Assisting with regulatory, client and marketing requests and other duties as may be required by broader Man Group from time to time
- Proven Market Risk experience in Credit (Essential)
- Knowledge and interest in major asset classes and portfolio risk management techniques
- Proven Market Risk experience at a leading Investment Bank/Investment Manager
- Strong communication, with a solutons focussed approach
- A detailed understanding of VaR modelling and stress testing
- Strong financial, analytical and quantitative skills
- Python or similar programming skills
