Inward Investment Coordinator -International Trade role

As an Inward Investment Coordinator, you will play an important role in enabling UK and Ireland companies expand overseas, bring their ideas to life and strengthen cross-Atlantic trade and investment.

You’ll be working with a North American client, the Department of Commerce of a major US state on the eastern seaboard with strong cross-Atlantic ties.

You’ll be the junior on-the-ground representative of the investment promotion and trade office, with the overarching goals of 1) attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) from the Ireland and the UK, 2) developing trade between the state and Ireland/UK firms, and 3) promoting awareness of your client’s region in Ireland/UK.

You’ll be supporting the entire investment cycle - from initial lead generation to outreach, negotiation, closing deals, and account management.

In your day-to-day, you’ll be identifying, meeting, pitching to and gathering crucial feedback from your client’s potential partners in Ireland and the UK, developing a funnel and fine-tuning the market strategy.

When the time is right, you will arrange for your client to visit Ireland and the UK - supporting crucial visits from business & governmental delegations. You’ll be their local feet-on-the-street - taking them to meetings with prospective investors and partners and providing a local cultural context to business conversations.

You’ll be working closely with your client and providing them with key progress indicators in the form of meeting notes, reports, and sync calls.

Responsibilities of the Inward Investment Coordinator:
- You will work as part of a small team of investment promotion and business development professionals spread across the Ireland and the UK. You’ll also be part of a larger global team of experts in investment attraction, business development and innovation
- Identifying, contacting, meeting, and communicating client’s value proposition to our client’s target investors, partners and customers
- Travelling to events and trade shows to identify companies looking for the perfect base to expand into the US market and being an ambassador for our client’s location
- Supporting the whole overseas investment process from initial lead generation to negotiation and closing deals
- Provide trade & market entry support services to companies interested in exporting to Ireland and the UK
- Supporting marketing activities on behalf of our government client in Ireland and the UK, including webinars, trade show representation and networking events
- Planning, organizing and executing events with the purpose of attracting foreign direct investment
- Arranging and supporting visits from government and business delegations
- Acting as a liaison between the state government and prospective Ireland and UK investors
- Reporting to clients via regular meeting notes and reports
- Other related business development and administrative tasks


Candidate requirements for the Inward Investment Coordinator:
- A graduate with a degree relevant to business, international relations, investment promotion or trade
- An outgoing and dynamic approach to work - an enthusiasm for meeting and engaging people
- Excellent communication skills - to get complex ideas across from clients to customers/investors and vice versa
- Ability to travel extensively domestically and to the US
- An interest in technology, sustainability and international business - to operate within multi-tiered supply chains and with multiple stakeholders
- Ideally but not essentially, experience in the automotive manufacturing, aerospace, biotechnology, energy or logistics industries- so you can hit the ground running
