IT Director

Robert Half Technology are assisting a London based university to recruit a IT Director on a 12 month FTC.

Role:

Strategic Planning & Leadership:

• The IT Director will develop and execute the university's IT strategy in alignment with the overall institutional strategy.
• Provide leadership and vision for the university's IT department, ensuring that it meets the current and future needs of the institution.
• Collaborate with senior management to identify opportunities for technology to enhance teaching, learning, research, and administration

IT Operations & Management:

• The IT Director will oversee the management and continuous improvement of IT infrastructure, including networks, data centres, telecommunications, and enterprise systems.
• Ensure the security, integrity, and reliability of all IT systems, data, and information.
• Manage the IT budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and cost-efficiency.

Digital Transformation & Innovation:

• Lead the university's digital transformation initiatives, driving the adoption of new technologies to enhance academic and operational effectiveness.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in higher education and assess their potential impact on the university.
• Foster a culture of innovation within the IT department, encouraging the exploration of new ideas and solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for IT matters across the university, ensuring effective communication with academic, administrative, and research staff.
• Engage with faculty, students, and staff to understand their IT needs and ensure that the IT services are meeting their requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external IT vendors and partners, ensuring the best possible service and value.

Governance, Compliance, & Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in IT management, including data protection (GDPR), information security, and accessibility.
• Oversee the development and implementation of IT policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
• Manage IT-related risks, including cyber security risks, and ensure robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place.

Team Leadership & Development:

• Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure that the IT department has the necessary skills and expertise to support the university's needs.
• Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the IT department.

Profile:

• The IT Director will have extensive experience in IT leadership roles within a higher education institution.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale IT projects and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of higher education technology needs, including learning management systems, research computing, and administrative systems.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement IT strategies that align with institutional goals.

Salary & Benefits

The salary range/rates of pay is dependent upon your experience, qualifications or training.
