Role: IT Operations Manager

Location: Manchester

Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 DOE + Benefits Package

Work Pattern: On-Site initially then hybrid after 6 months

Summary:

A brand new role has opened up for an IT Operations Manager to join a thriving Manchester-based MSP, close to transport links.

Due to company and team growth, the business needs to bring in someone full time to support department managers through collaboration on issues faced, directly reporting to the CEO. Effective collaboration, communication and strong project management ITIL best practice skills are essential as you will be promoting these across the technical teams. This is a really unique opportunity as the company usually promote from within.

You will have 2 direct reports, who then have a total of around 20 people within their teams and this role is really around helping those individuals and maximizing both areas of the business.

We aren't looking for someone to bring many household changes here, this role is more about tweaking and improving and already highly successful business to allow further growth and progression. For this role we can definitely consider someone with a good technical background who could step up into this role, someone who has been a manger but not necessarily an operations manager.

The Role

The ideal candidate will be ready to bring in departmental changes and process improvements through buy in from the technical department managers - so excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must. It will be your responsibility to bring about excellent department efficiency and raise the operational maturity levels of the company. Your role and responsibilities will include:

  • Management and development of technical managers
  • Reporting and driving agreed operational KPIs for the technical teams
  • Cross departmental problem management
  • Lead operational meetings and 1:1s with technical team managers
  • Support in the recruitment process for new hires
  • Identify gaps and formulating in tech teams' business processes
  • Process and standard operating procedure creation and management
  • Support in the creation of PDP and training plans for teams.

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional collaborate and communication skills
  • Experience working at an MSP
  • Previous incident management experience
  • Experience leading a team
