We are currently looking to add resource to our Pharmaceuticals team. This role would support the current team of 5 Analysts and is perfect for someone who is looking to start a career in Equity Research. It’s important for this person to have a keen interest in pharmaceuticals as an industry, whether that’s with a science/medical based degree, or real world experience working in the Pharma industry and wanting to make a career change into the investment banking sphere. They will support the current coverage initially, getting some great mentorship and insight from the current team. It’s a fantastic learning opportunity as well as a chance for someone to really kick start their Equity Research career.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conducting research on a range of companies within the Pharmaceutical sector, attendance at company presentations, attendance of meetings with company management, researching company accounts/reports and other sources and drafting research notes;
  • Financial modelling and valuation;
  • Attending client meetings and calls with the rest of the team in order to learn how to present stock recommendations and develop this capability;
  • Undertaking various tasks associated with the research function, updating databases, reviewing and archiving research material;
  • Attending pharmaceutical company presentations and summarising key findings for the team.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelors/Masters/PhD from a Scientific field (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, medical school etc)
  • Previous experience in a commercial, analytical role within the pharmaceutical industry also an advantage
  • ACA qualified and experience in a Big 4 accounting firm where you have focused on pharma/biotech companies and/or projects, would be interesting
  • Passionate about trends in the sector, relevant themes and can talk widely about these
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Basic knowledge of company valuations and financial modelling, with an appetite to learn;
  • Advanced IT skills, including all standard Office applications;
  • CFA level 1 is a significant advantage.
