Junior Trader – Agricultural Commodities

An excellent opportunity has arisen with a global commodity trading company based in the heart of the City. Within the role you will be involved in the flow of raw sugar from sugar cane mills in numerous geographies around the world, in price risk management both for the underlying derivative and the physical basis risk. This is an exciting opportunity and one which offers excellent career progression.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Take on board and understand our day-to-day work with existing customers including but not limited to managing positions, meeting sourcing requests, assisting on supply chain requirements, liaising with trade finance, operations, and derivatives team
  • Managing Line Up forecasting and communicating Trade Flows on a regular basis
  • Support on the commercial and analytical development of Agriproducts across the Globe
  • Support on the planning and business development of business in Europe
  • Learning to support and contribute to their Freight Desk, including rating enquiries, managing fixtures, vetting vessels, liaising with agents and operators
  • Learn and understand PNL generation cross the globe and assist in writing and developing regular reporting to the Team and Senior Management
  • Communication with London operations and finance teams to ensure successful supply chain management
  • Understand the workflow and systems used around the world
  • To take responsibility for your performance and to work together to achieve our organizational goals
  • To attend training courses which are identified as being necessary for the performance of the role.

Skills and Experience:
  • Being able to demonstrate a clear desire to build a career in Agricultural Commodities
  • Evidence adaptability and multi-tasking across a broad spectrum of interests
  • Be conversant with commodity derivatives and foreign exchange markets
  • Have a keen interest in Analytics and be flexible in utilising this
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Personable with the ability to build relationships and communicate with all levels both internally and externally
  • Ability to speak a second language – desirable
