Are you confident working with challenging behaviour?Do you have experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant?Are you passionate about working with SEN children?
Successful candidates will be reliable, patient, and loyal, with a good sense of humour and strength of character. It will be necessary to have experience of working with children with autism and special needs. The post holder will be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, along with having sound numeracy skills.

As well as developing and delivering personalised learning, you will work with colleagues to support pupils with their daily routines, transitions, and positive behaviour management.
Your responsibilitiesAs a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be required to:

  • Support the Teacher in managing challenging behaviour and promoting positive behaviour including contributing to the regular reviews of Behaviour Support Plans
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times
  • 1:1 Autism and ADHD support to help manage student behaviour and learning
  • Liaise with colleagues effectively for the benefit of the students and working environment
  • Provide a safe learning environment for the children
  • Get the classroom ready for lessons and clearing away afterwards to maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Provide pupils with academic and emotional support
  • Record and report a pupil's progress to the teacher
  • Supporting the SENCO, class teachers and other staff in planning, delivering and assessing learning activities for SEN pupils
  • Working with small groups or individual pupils to provide extra support or challenge in literacy, numeracy and other subjects
  • Helping to create a positive and stimulating learning environment that meets the individual needs and abilities of the pupils
  • Monitoring and recording the progress and attainment of the pupils and providing feedback to the Teacher


Requirements

  • Have a valid in-date Enhanced DBS (preferably on the Update Service)
  • It is essential that they have experience providing specialist support to children with SEN and preferably 1:1 support with children who have moderate to severe behavioural difficulties
  • The ideal candidate for the school is someone who has experience working with either ASC, Dyslexia, Challenging Behaviour, PLD, MLD, PECs and Makaton
