As a Lab Technician with Imerys, no two days are the same. You will work on research based projects, providing technical support primarily for new product development and technical service in the paints and coatings markets.

Hours: 37.5h Monday to Friday

Your responsibilities:

  • Conducting laboratory experiments within a framework agreed by a senior scientist.
  • Technical service support under the direct supervision of a senior technician or scientist.
  • Practical support for new product development and innovation, bringing new ideas and products to the market.
  • Preparing samples and conducting the tests in accordance with the relevant approved test method, analysing and validating the results to ensure that they are free from errors, reviewing and repeating as necessary.

You will: Be offered professional development, in order to understand the roles of minerals used in Paints and Coatings and have the following skills:

  • A level or equivalent in sciences (chemistry, physics, maths, geology).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent vocational qualifications in scientific disciplines such as material sciences, geology or chemistry.
  • Have experience in working in a laboratory environment, especially with regard to Health and Safety.
  • Have a basic understanding of chemistry/materials.
  • Worked in a laboratory environment at college or similar and understands the principles of scientific experimentation.
