Legal Counsel - Banking

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced lawyer to join a dynamic legal team supporting the global banking team. This role offers the chance to work closely with various business teams and legal colleagues across an international network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on various transactions, cash products, trade finance and lending structures.
  • Draft and negotiate legal documentation, engaging with internal stakeholders.
  • Manage external counsel, ensuring cost-effectiveness and high-quality legal support.
  • Offer guidance on new products, regulatory developments, and legal risks.
  • Support dispute resolution and assist legal teams in other regions as required.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years PQE, with experience in a top-tier law firm (financial institution experience desirable).
  • Strong background in cash products (e.g., escrow, account bank, payments), and cross-border lending (LMA documentation). Trade Finance or Structured finance experience would be advantageous, but experience in cash is most important
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks
  • Commercial acumen and ability to balance legal risk with business needs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • English law qualified (or qualified in a commonwealth jurisdiction).
