Rate: £14.28 per hour PAYE
Shifts: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 16:30pm (36 hours per week)
Location: Welwyn Garden City, with flexibility to work one day a week from home and occasional site visits to hubs

Job Summary

My leading multinational retailer is seeking a dedicated Lead Cook to support their Operations Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with all safe and legal documentation and maintaining high standards in food hygiene and safety. The Lead Cook will ensure the Quality Panel (QP) kitchen operates efficiently, cover for team members during absences, and continuously seek to improve processes. This role involves liaising with various teams and conducting training to maintain high standards across all kitchen operations.

Key Role and Daily Tasks

  • Create & document all Safe and Legal and food hygiene processes implementing changes including spot checks and dummy EHO visits, compliance reviewing updating polices with the Food Safety Manager (WGC and HUBS).
  • Facilitate 1-2-1s with cooking team to raise kitchen problems/issues.
  • Assist in the business plan to increase product testing with the aim to up capacity by 36%.
  • Implement a fully automated stock take system within the kitchen process.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders on supplier lead training programs for cooks.
  • Cover for cook's or kitchen assistant's role when sickness and annual leave in team covering all their responsibilities.
  • Assisting the Lead Coordinator with adhoc projects and events.
  • Induction and full training for all new employee's kitchen related.
  • Design training programs for all cooks and to improve efficiently in the kitchen.
  • Oversee weekly schedule and order of testing.
  • Order consumables and kitchen equipment through process and retain invoices.

  • Proven experience in food preparation and cooking
