Learning Mentor - Behaviour
  • Location: West Sussex
  • Job Type: Full-time, Term Time Only
  • Salary Range: Grade 5

We are excited to offer the opportunity for a dedicated Learning Mentor - Behaviour to join our vibrant school community. This role is essential in supporting our students to overcome barriers to learning and regulating their emotions, ensuring they can achieve their full potential in a harmonious and supportive environment.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Provide targeted support for students with behavioural challenges.
  • Deliver intervention programmes as part of the alternative provision team.
  • Carry out high profile walkabouts, assisting with more challenging behaviour.
  • Create behaviour profiles to enable behaviour targets to be set for individual students.
  • Help students to regulate their emotions and break down barriers to learning.
  • Support students in restorative conversations.
  • Monitor the behaviour of targeted students and liaise with families, staff, and outside agencies.
  • Plan and deliver 1:1 provision and group work, assessing and monitoring progress.
  • Engage with appropriate training opportunities to promote professional effectiveness in the role.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A good level of education including GCSE grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English.
  • Previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour.
  • Clear communication skills (spoken, written and use of ICT).
  • Ability to lead small group teaching sessions and plan effectively.
  • Very good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise.
  • Confident use of IT packages such as Google Drive.
  • Commitment to promoting our school vision and values and to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
