Post: Learning Support Assistant 1-1

Working pattern: 30 hours per week - Term Time Only

Location : NN11, Daventry Northampton

The role is to act as a teaching assistant to support children requiring 1-1 support. The candidate will be required to work as part of our existing learning support team and could involve working within in various key stages; this could be working in class based activities, small group or 1:1 as the needs of the school dictates. The post holder will work within a team of Teacher and Teaching Assistants with the overall aim of supporting the school to promote the teaching and learning of all its pupils.

Your role will be pivotal in helping the student achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. You will work under the direction of the class teacher and the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).

ey Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1-1 support to a specific student, helping them to access the curriculum and engage in classroom activities.
  • Assist with the development of social skills and encourage positive interactions with peers.
  • Monitor and record the student's progress, providing feedback to the SENCo and class teacher.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other professionals involved in the student's care.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of Special Educational Needs and experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are an advantage.
