My client are a top college in Portsmouth and are currently looking for a skilled Brick professional to join the team. A Lecturer plays the largest part in a student's experience in education. 

The Lecturer in Brick will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in bricklaying and masonry techniques to students  The role involves preparing lesson plans, teaching theoretical and practical aspects of bricklaying, assessing student performance, and contributing to the development of the curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 or above Brick Qualification.

The Role

  • Instruction and Teaching:

    • Deliver engaging and effective lectures and practical sessions in bricklaying and masonry .
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and learning objectives.
    • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Student Assessment:

    • Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, practical projects, and examinations.
    • Provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve their skills and knowledge.
    • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
  • Mentorship and Support:

    • Offer guidance and mentorship to students, supporting their academic and professional development.
      Address student queries and concerns promptly and effectively.

  • Health and Safety:

    • Ensure a safe learning environment by promoting and adhering to health and safety regulations.
    • Educate students on proper safety practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Professional Development:

    • Participate in continuous professional development to stay current with teaching methodologies and industry standards.
    • Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions as required.
  • Administrative Duties:

    • Prepare and submit required reports, such as student progress reports and curriculum updates.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the overall functioning of the department.

Skills Required

  • Education:

    • Level 3 or above in Brick Qualification
    • A teaching qualification such as a Certificate in Education (Cert Ed), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Extensive experience working in the bricklaying or construction industry.
    • Previous teaching or training experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of bricklaying techniques, materials, and industry standards.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
    • Proficiency in using relevant teaching tools and technology.
