Our client, a highly regarded London-based solicitors specialising in crime, family law and human rights have an opening for a Legal Aid Billing Team Leader. The main responsibilities for this role are to assist in the day-to-day operation of the department to support fee earners.

Responsibilities

  • Checking and submitting CCMS BILLS, Claim 1s, Claim 2s on CCMS.
  • Uploading evidence on CCMS when submitting bills and requesting POAs from the LAA
  • Allocating counsel costs on CCMS
  • Drafting and processing payments on account for profit cost and disbursements on CCMS and Eforms
  • Overseeing matter starts reporting and liaising with department heads for monthly updates
  • Posting and receipting bills, allocating costs to Fee Earners
  • Liaising with external third parties such as cost drafters, chambers, experts, Legal Aid Agency
  • Liaising with accounts department re payments, invoicing, residual balances
  • Outcome codes submission to Discharge the Legal Aid Certificate
  • Drafting and submitting claims under the legal help scheme for submission and assessment by the LAA, as well as monthly submission on CWA.
  • Update Excel spreadsheets for LAA, LH, Claim 2s, POA disbursements and profit costs
  • Daily Posting for civil costs to be update on Proclaim

Candidate Profile

  • Experience of working with the LAA or in busy legal practice preferable.
  • Essential skills include being organised and ability to organise others.
  • To assist fee earners in operating efficiently.
  • Challenge colleagues constructively and fairly to maximise both the reputation and fees of the department.
