Legal Counsel – 12 Month FTC Join Aon’s legal team as Legal Counsel working with our business colleagues in delivering Aon’s services to our clients. We are on the lookout for a qualified lawyer with strong commercial contracting skills for advising our business colleagues on relationship expansions and new product launches. Experience working in a regulated environment such as wealth/asset management or investment advisory services, or in the provision of pension-related services is helpful but not essential. This is a hybrid role giving you the flexibility to work in the office or virtually at home. With Aon Law teams based in London and Manchester, we encourage candidates with the ability to access either of these office locations. Virtual UK based workers will also be considered. What the day will look like When our business colleagues are looking to take on new clients, expand relationships with existing clients or launch a new product or service, they contact the Aon Law Department for advice on how to manage any associated legal risks effectively. As a member of the team, your responsibilities and opportunities will include: Support to the business in respect of commercial transaction and strategic agreements Project work relating to the establishment new products and services, including advising the business, committees and the Board Drafting and negotiation of standard form documentation such as consulting agreements, administration agreements and investment management agreements and bespoke documentation to facilitate the delivery of the new products and services Working with internal compliance, risk and data privacy functions and external legal counsel in order to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations and Aon policies Working with key business stakeholders at all levels of the Aon organisation Opportunities to join networks of Aon lawyers around the globe engaging with senior business stakeholders to deliver on common goals as one team How this opportunity is different As legal counsel, you will receive strong support from you teammates, working with highly esteemed professionals in our Aon Law department, while gaining exposure to diverse areas of our business groups. Skills and experience that will lead to success: Qualification to practise as a lawyer (whether in the UK or abroad) Degree-level qualification or equivalent Experience working in-house Strong commercial contracting experience (drafting, review and negotiation), with emphasis on client-facing supply agreements Experience balancing corporate risk with commercial awareness and opportunity Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with an eye for detail Excellent communication skills and the ability to gain the confidence of seniors and peers in your team and within the businesses you work for, and you are comfortable communicating by email, telephone and video-conference The ability to manage your time effectively, juggle multiple tasks and clients and prioritise, and to be flexible when priorities need to change Enthusiasm for working as part of a team of lawyers and in collaboration with business colleagues towards a common goal Willingness to learn about new areas of work and a logical and enquiring approach to new challenges You might have: Experience working in a regulated investment environment such as asset management and/or investment advisory, or pensions Projects, transactional or execution management experience Experience working on contracts for strategic partnerships/collaboration agreements How we support our colleagues In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce.
