Legal Secretary

Salary - DOE

London (EC2V) with hybrid working

Your experience working as a Legal Secretary is highly sought after by our client, who are a leading offshore law firm. They are seeking a dedicated Secretary to join their team in London, providing essential secretarial and administrative support to a group of designated fee earners. This role is pivotal in ensuring fee earners can maximize their time on client-related work, contributing to the efficiency and success of the firm.

Role Overview:

As a Secretary, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including typing and word processing, managing correspondence, handling telephone and conference calls, and overseeing diary management and travel arrangements. You'll also assist with business expense claims, conflict checks, and booking meeting rooms when needed. Your role will involve checking and proofreading documents, monitoring inboxes for fee earners in their absence, and helping create new client matters in their Document Management system.

Qualifications and Experience:

They are looking for someone educated to GCSE or A-Level standard (or equivalent) with previous experience in similar duties. Proficiency with MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, is essential, and familiarity with Elite or equivalent systems is advantageous. Strong typing skills and accuracy are crucial. While secretarial or administration qualifications and legal environment experience are beneficial, they are not mandatory.

Personal Characteristics:

The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding planning and organisation abilities, and the capacity to prioritise effectively under pressure. A team-oriented approach and flexibility to assist colleagues in a multi-team environment are essential.

Working Conditions and Benefits:

This role offers a 35-hour workweek, with standard hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, including a 60-minute lunch break. They support hybrid working, allowing you to work three days in the office and two days from home. Benefits include 25 days of holiday (with the option to buy/sell up to 5 days), a discretionary bonus scheme, private medical insurance from day one (including coverage for pre-existing conditions), permanent health insurance, life assurance (4x annual salary), and a pension scheme with a 5% employee and 3% employer contribution. They also offer a travel loan scheme.
