We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced legal secretary to join our growing Family Law team within a respected and progressive law firm based in the heart of Newcastle City Centre. This is a permanent position with full-time hours, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00.

Presently, the team has 1 full-time secretary supporting 3 full time lawyers, each with a mixed caseload of family law matters. With workloads increasing, there is a need for further experienced support to join the team.

DUTIES
  • To assist fee earners with the full range of admin tasks associated with family law matters, updating file records electronically (using CMS), creating electronic bundles and supporting the general administration within the team
  • Assist fee earners to progress cases in a timely manner including completing Court documentation, liaising with Counsel’s Clerks and Chambers, being a point of contact for clients and third parties
  • Assist with typing and preparation of documents in the Family Team and being an active member of the firm-wide support function
  • Assist with other office duties, when required, such as reception, scanning, photocopying, call handling and post, for example.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
  • Be an experienced family law legal secretary
  • Have excellent IT skills including Outlook, Word, use of client databases (CMS), and Excel if possible
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have knowledge of how to deal with billing/invoicing, disbursements and client monies
  • Be a proficient audio typist
  • Have a professional telephone manner
  • Be proactive and able to use their own initiative
  • Be very well organised
  • Be able to work well under pressure
  • Have a willingness to adapt
  • Be someone who works well within a team environment
  • Be someone keen to learn new skills and be open to development and training
  • Have at least 5 GCSEs A-C grades including in English and Maths.
