Legal Services Lead – NHS Kent

Venn Group is working with NHS in Kent who are seeking a dedicated Legal Services Lead to manage a complex caseload, including inquests, safeguarding enquiries, and claims. This role involves conducting investigations, statement taking, advocacy, and supporting junior team members. You will escalate high-risk issues to the Head of Legal Services and support complex medico-legal enquiries and advice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee complex inquests, safeguarding enquiries, and claims.
  • Provide investigation, advocacy, and direction to junior team members.
  • Support and deputise for the Head of Legal Services in delivering high-quality legal training.

Qualifications:

  • Law Degree or equivalent relevant experience (3 years).
  • Capsticks Diploma in Risk and Claims Management or equivalent.

Experience and Skills:

  • Acute NHS Trust experience.
  • Skilled in managing complex, sensitive information.
  • Strong written and spoken English under pressure.
  • Inquest case management and detailed knowledge of clinical/non-clinical claims.
  • Familiarity with Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, and Safeguarding Legislation.
  • Advanced IT and staff management skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training packages.
