Position Summary

The Light End Originator will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing trading opportunities in the light ends market, including gasoline, naphtha, and liquefied petroleum gases (LPG). This role requires a deep understanding of the market dynamics, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with key market participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Development:

    • Identify and develop new trading opportunities in the light ends market.
    • Analyze market trends, supply and demand factors, and price movements to support trading strategies.
    • Stay informed about industry developments, regulatory changes, and market innovations.
  • Trading and Execution:

    • Execute trades in line with the company’s strategies and risk management policies.
    • Monitor and manage trading positions, ensuring optimal risk-reward balance.
    • Utilize various trading instruments including futures, swaps, and physical trades.
  • Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, brokers, and other market participants.
    • Negotiate and manage contracts with trading partners.
    • Represent the company at industry events and maintain a positive company image.
  • Risk Management:

    • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with light end trading activities.
    • Ensure compliance with internal risk management policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor market exposure and implement strategies to manage risk effectively.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:

    • Work closely with the trading, operations, logistics, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of trades.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of the company’s trading strategy.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, MSc) is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in light ends trading or a related field.
    • Proven track record of successful trading and profit generation in the light ends market.
    • In-depth knowledge of global light ends markets, including market dynamics, trading instruments, and regulatory environment.
  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in trading platforms and market analysis tools.
    • Strong network of industry contacts.
