As a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Analyst for a globally recognised Energy Commodity Trader you will play a critical role in the Energy sector, focusing on the management and optimisation of PPA’s, financial and contractual aspects of energy transactions, particularly those involving renewable energy projects.

Core duties will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Contract Analysis and Management:
    • Evaluate and analyze the terms and conditions of power purchase agreements.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations by all parties involved.
    • Identify risks and opportunities within PPAs and suggest modifications if necessary.
  2. Financial Modeling and Analysis:
    • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast the economic outcomes of PPAs.
    • Perform sensitivity analysis to understand the impact of various factors on project economics.
    • Assess the financial viability and profitability of potential and existing PPAs.
  3. Market Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct research on energy markets, including pricing trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics.
    • Stay updated on industry developments that could affect PPAs and provide strategic insights based on this information.
  4. Negotiation Support:
    • Assist in the negotiation of PPAs by providing detailed financial and market analysis.
    • Support the development of negotiation strategies and tactics to optimize contract terms.
  5. Risk Management:
    • Identify and quantify risks associated with PPAs, such as credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.
    • Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure they are incorporated into financial models and contract terms.
  6. Stakeholder Communication:
    • Collaborate with internal teams, such as finance, legal, and operations, to ensure all aspects of the PPA are understood and managed effectively.
    • Communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and external stakeholders.
  7. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Track and report on the performance of executed PPAs, including financial and operational metrics.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders on the status and performance of PPAs.
  8. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure that all PPAs comply with relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
    • Stay informed about changes in regulations that could impact PPAs and advise the organization accordingly.
