As a Band 3 Microbiology Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing accurate and efficient laboratory support in microbiology services. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and processing microbiological samples for analysis
- Assisting with the culture, identification, and testing of samples
- Maintaining the laboratory’s cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols
- Supporting senior laboratory staff with diagnostic procedures
- Ensuring proper sample handling and documentation
- Contributing to quality control measures and laboratory audits
- Collaborating with the laboratory team to improve patient outcomes and support the wider healthcare team
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience working in a NHS Microbiology laboratory
- A sound understanding of laboratory techniques and specimen handling
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of laboratory practice
- Full right to work in the UK (we cannot offer sponsorship)
The role operates Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 9am - 5pm. The initial contract is 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and service requirements.
