Logistics and Customs Coordinator

  • Salary: £28,000 - £30,000

We are seeking a proactive and communicative Logistics and Customs Planner to manage our 3rd party logistics providers, ensuring that products are delivered efficiently, within cost and quality parameters. This role is crucial in supporting the company’s growth and profitability by maintaining optimal service levels and fostering strong supplier relationships.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with 3rd party logistics providers to achieve optimum service levels in terms of quantity, quality, and delivery.
  • Plan transport requirements weekly, ensuring products are collected and delivered within specified timeframes.
  • Identify and resolve issues with hauliers and distribution centres, while monitoring and reporting on performance.
  • Monitor truck fill and utilisation to ensure cost-effective transportation of goods.
  • Record KPIs and other key information to monitor supplier and service provider performance.
  • Maintain a database of prices, haulier loads, monthly pallets, and thermograph requests.
  • Stay informed about all transport routes into the UK, liaising with hauliers for the most cost-effective or appropriate routes.
  • Communicate any delays to inbound loads to demand coordinators and the Transport Manager.
  • Advise the Transport Manager of any factors that may affect inbound loads, such as industrial action or weather conditions.
  • Complete all relevant documents and supporting declarations for importing clearance.
  • Stay updated on regulations that can have a direct or indirect impact on product import.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in logistics planning and customs procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of transport routes and regulations related to product import.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with logistics providers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills to support decision-making.
  • Proficiency in database management and recording of key performance indicators.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and professional development.
