Maintenance and Facilities Technician

We are looking to recruit a maintenance and facilities technician assigned to our client based in Newton Aycliffe.

The successful candidate will cover site plant and infrastructure maintenance providing pro-active support in ensuring that the site infrastructure is maintained to an appropriate level corresponding to the requirements of the Company Quality, Safety and Environmental policies.

Flexibility will be key to working within a small team of technicians, shifts will be set out to enhance the needs of the business. You will be expected to provide assistance in implementing and maintaining all departmental records, procedures and COSHH data.

Other requirements will include but not limited to:

  • To assist in reviewing risk assessments in relation to site maintenance activities, as requested by Line Manager.
  • To assist in conducting safety and environmental assessments, in relation to Company activities.
  • Work to company safety policy and procedures, when working under normal duties.
  • To monitor all areas of site activities and ensure compliance with internal / external standards and relevant documented procedures, giving immediate feedback to Management in the event of non-conformity.
  • Ensure that any issues concerning site plant equipment and infrastructure are reported in a timely manner to Line Manager.
  • To help investigate accidents and incidents, as directed by the Line Manager.
  • To provide assistance in implementing necessary winter precautions in surrounding site areas, as directed by Line Manager.
  • To provide support / assistance to External Contractors, as directed by Line Manager.
  • To manage External Contractors. Review RAMS / Competencies and understand the scope of work. Issuing relevant Permit to Works and undertaking regular checks on the contractor, ensuring they are working safely and are complying to the issued permits scope of works. Timely close out of issued permits and checks on completed works.
  • To assist in the training / induction of new personnel.
  • To develop the FM Apprentice, ensuring they get all the necessary skills, experience and knowledge.
  • Carry out reactive investigative works on defective plant and equipment.
  • To complete Defects (Defect/Task) in a timely manner and document findings.
  • To be a service provider to all key stakeholders
  • To maintain Facilities & Maintenance (FM) owned internal and external real estate, to the defined 5S standards.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Driving Licence
  • Maintenance of safety critical machinery.
  • Excellent fault-finding skills.
  • Experience of general routine building maintenance in an industrial environment, along with electrical wiring / installation experience.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical, Craft Apprenticeship, or Equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Behavioural

  • Sound knowledge of and compliance to, rules and regulations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Working hours - 12-hour shifts (7:00am to 7:00pm) 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off

Pay - £42,748 + 20% shift allowance (£51,297.60)
