Job Title: Maintenance Operative

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire

Duration: Permanent

Pay Rate: £13 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

Purpose of Job:

This role will be responsible for assisting the Maintenance team in ensuring the safe delivery of maintenance and repair/fault response for all areas of the plant and surrounding areas.

Accountabilities/Scope of Work:

· Carrying out basic preventative & reactive maintenance

· Reporting faults and issues picked up on routine preventative maintenance.

· Assembling components so they are ready for installation.

· Plumbing basics understanding

· Carrying out planned maintenance checks

· Completing work orders and recording materials that are used on the job.

· Responding to breakdowns

· Reporting any defects to line management.

· Ensuring excellent housekeeping standards in line with site safety requirements

· Ensuring all HSQE requirements are complied with.

· Basics hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and all mechanical production assets (not essential, but beneficial)

· Safety Behaviours

· Understand and embrace the Company's vision for safety.

· Attend safety events as directed and keep knowledge and awareness of safe working practices up to date.

· Comply with all safety requirements including the wearing of PPE.

· Never carry out any tasks where not fully trained on that task (or adequately supervised whilst learning).

· Hold self and others accountable for complying with safety standards.

· Ensure safety considerations are taken into account when taking decisions or carrying out any task.

· Only carrying out tasks when the correct resources needed to perform the job safely are available.

· Treat safety issues in a proportionate and consistent way, never use safety as an excuse for doing or not doing something where it can't be justified.

Knowledge and Experience

· Preferred experience in concrete/pre-cast sector, construction materials or construction sector generally, and/or specific experience in an environment with similar mechanical plant configuration

· Ideally experience working within medium / heavy industrial industry

· Being able to work within a team or alone to fault find and able to use initiative to rectify faults.

· Flexible with working weekends when required.

· An open & willing to learn attitude & character.

Qualifications and Training

· Reasonable standard of secondary education

· Reasonable standard of spoken and written English, demonstrable capability to read and understand notices and signage to ensure safe working.

· Minimum basic safety training

· Displaying personal attributes, which include tenacity, resilience, a positive disposition, a "can-do" attitude, assertiveness & a high degree of determination to succeed.

· Able to work well in a team and support new team members.

· Good interpersonal and communication skills.
