Hays Accountancy & Finance are pleased to be supporting a Local Authority who are seeking a Management Accountant to assist the wider finance team with setting up and the monitoring budgets as well as producing Statement of Accounts.

Your new role
In this Management Accountant job, you will be responsible for offering support to budget holders with monthly reporting on actual spend vs budgets along with detailed analysis of variances. This will also involve assisting in the production of the annual Statement of Accounts.

You will also review other areas of finance covering VAT obligations, capital spend, housing revenue and also producing financial reports for business cases as well as completing grant applications. As you will be working closely with the budget holders you will analyse accruals of income and expenditure which will also involve extensive reconciliations.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be at least an AAT studier, ideally AAT Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant with experience of reporting on or advising on budgetary control and reporting. It will be expected you will have experience of accrued income & expenditure, an ability to produce monthly management accounts and be confident with Excel to undertake extensive reconciliations across multiple bank accounts.

As the Management Accountant, you will support non-finance budget holders and advise them on monitoring their budgets. Therefore, confident and clear communication skills are essential.

The organisation offers a competitive salary of between £34,834 - £38,223 depending on experience, generous annual leave, local government pension, hybrid-working available. They offer flexible working with at least 2 days in the office.
