Axon Moore are delighted to be working with a well established client who, due to unprecedented growth have a newly created Management Accountant role. 

From modest beginnings in Yorkshire, in 1991, our client now operates in eight locations, with eight warehouses and over 1300 employees.

Purpose of the role:

Assisting the Senior Management Accountant, to prepare departmental management accounts, budgets, customer tenders and ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required.

Working closely with Site Managers and Head of Warehousing to support them in accurate financial reporting for open book warehousing customers.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Manage the assistant management accountant team through robust PDR’s, objective setting and training.
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly departmental management accounts.
  • Detailed overhead variance analysis.
  • Communicating and liaising with the operations team to raise the profile of finance, ensure effective budgeting and cost control whilst helping to develop a thorough understanding of departmental results.
  • Develop and improve effective KPI reporting to improve performance and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Proactive people management, ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
  • Ongoing development of management information including effective cost centre reporting.
  • Preparation of forecasts, budgets and tenders for new business.
  • Ensure effective communication to both internal and external customers.
  • Develop relationships with key contacts and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Lead and implement change activities, projects and new initiatives.
  • Assist in the creation of policies and processes for any external audit or accreditation.

Person specification
  • 2/3 years post qualification experience (ACCA, CIMA or similar accounting qualification).
  • Distribution/Logistics background desirable but not essential.Proven track record of adding value to the accounting function.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical abilities.
