Adele Carr Recruitment is delighted to be the recruitment partner of choice for a not-for-profit organisation in Liverpool.

This is a full time, permanent position requiring the skills and experience of a fully qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA), Management Accountant who is seeking a role offering variety and responsibility.

Supporting the Finance Director and wider team, this is a pivot role within the finance function allowing you full access to various senior stakeholders and board. The successful new appointment will have a proven track record, producing management accounts and year end accounts within the charity sector.

The ideal applicant will be confident in their ability to build relationships with non-financial budget holders, whilst being the go-to person and advocate for finance across the organisation.

You will be an asset to the business ensuring financial processes and controls in place are robust and fit for purpose and take a keen lead on continuous improvement and adding value.

Long term, the hiring manager is succession planning and is therefore expecting this individual to grow and develop in the role whilst working towards a more senior position.

Knowledge and experience of Gift Aid and SORP accounting would be beneficial, although all training will be provided.

Applicants who are practice trained; first time movers will be considered.


The Management Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Finance Director and senior stakeholders with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure month end management accounts and reports are produced accurately and on time.
  • Month end journals, accruals, prepayments.
  • Balance sheet reconciliation
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting.
  • Assist with year-end accounts and liaise with auditors to ensure satisfactory completion of audit.
  • Business partnering, support the wider team

The ideal applicant, will be:

  • Seeking to work in Liverpool on a full time, permanent basis with a growing organisation who will invest and support your career development.
  • Familiar to working in a not-for-profit environment (SORP accounting)
  • Capable of working well under pressure, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Possess strong communication, analytic and organisational skills.
  • Familiar with stakeholder management.
  • A team player with good initiative and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, conscientious.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel (pivots, look-ups)
