Management Accountant

Our client is a privately owned £5-6m turnover engineering business supplying products and services to customers across a range of sectors. As a result of business growth and recent investment into IT systems they are now looking to recruit a Management Accountant to join the business. This role will report directly into the MD and would suit an individual looking to make a real contribution to their ongoing success.

The position would suit an experienced Management Accountant or Accounts Manager looking for a hands on role with a friendly SME or a strong Assistant Management Accountant looking to step up and receive additional support from their external accountants with whom they have a good relationship. As a business they have an excellent culture of continuous development and improvement, a happy, collaborative workforce and an ethos of putting the customer first.

Their ideal candidate would be looking for a position with the opportunity to have a real input by getting involved in a variety of projects to improve the business by driving efficiency and profitability. The main responsibilities of this role will be:

• Managing the month end close process ensuring all transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Producing the monthly management accounts for two divisions
• Reporting on weekly and monthly KPI’s to key personnel
• Managing and forecasting cashflow / working capital
• Overseeing sales, purchase ledger and credit control
• Producing VAT returns, payroll and dealing with HMRC
• Collating information for the year end accounts

The business has recently introduced a new system and the new Accountant will be encouraged to design reports capturing data, controlling costs and providing insight into margins.

To be successful you must be hands on, able to manage your own workload and also work effectively as part of a wider team. They are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and pays attention to the detail. Previous experience of an accounting role in an SME finance department will therefore be essential.

Preferred candidates would be minimum AAT qualified and ideally studying towards CIMA / ACCA or QBE, applicants also looking to move straight from accountancy practice would also be considered favourably.
