The Role 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Management Accountant to join us at our newly renovated and stylish office in Harrogate Town Center.  This is a fixed term contract for a period of 6 months to Support the Finance Manager and Senior Team with all financial and accounting processes for the Group.  The successful candidate will assist with the development and coaching of the junior members of the team, be a strong team player, providing encouragement, insight and support where necessary.  They will Innovate and enhance internal processes to bolster financial reporting across the business, whilst maintain meticulous records and an audit trail to support the financial accounts of the business. 

Fixed Term Contract - 6 months
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

Financial Operations
  • 1st line management of the junior members of the team, answering their questions and allocating tasks.
  • Provide financial guidance and advice to stakeholders, customers, and clients as required
  • Oversight of credit control and monitoring bad debt
  • Adhere to the company's financial policies and procedures.
  • Insurer Statements – reconciliation and accountability for monthly payment
  • Billing out to breakdown wholesale brokers and agents, ensuring accurate reconciliation of money received. Including continuous improvement line of effort to clear historic balances and unallocated payments.
  • Ability to provide financial trading forecasts, aligning with business revenue targets and EBITDA

Responsibilities
Month end
  • Perform month-end closing processes and reconciliation work.
  • Analysis of financial data for ad hoc requests and assist with financial reporting to the Finance Manager.

Treasury
  • Assist with treasury management, monitor outgoing and incoming movement in funds on a daily basis 
  • Reconciling bank accounts across multiple entities and ensuring that all bank reconciliations are completed on time by other members of the team.
  • Completing weekly and monthly supplier pay cycles for suppliers, insurers and recovery agents. 

Projects
  • Assists with the implementation, maintenance and review of financial controls.
  • Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions.
  • Other duties include, but are not limited to; training, ad hoc project work, responding to finance queries from the wider business.

The Candidate 
  • Qualified Accountant or working towards ACA, CIMA, ACCA or AAT
  • At least 2 years experience within a similar role
  • PC literate and able to pick up new systems quickly
  • Advanced Excel skills. Able to handle large volumes of data and experience using pivot tables and power functions (“vlookups”, “sumifs”, “if” statements etc…)
  • Experience using Sage 50 is desirable
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment is desirable
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Persistence and determination
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Exhibit a positive, can-do attitude and a strong commitment to driving continuous improvement.
  • Be able to take ownership for tasks and be able to complete to a high standard, sometimes with minimal supervision.
