Contract length: 6 month initial contract - Potential to be extended / made permanent

IR35 Status: Inside of Scope

Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a Materials Manager on behalf of a global company in the Rail and Mobility industry. This role is on an initial 6 month contract and to be based at their Lincoln office location.

The Materials Manager will be required to help shape the company's stock / status system platform with valuable input and previous knowledge of bills and material structures. Previous SAP experience would be beneficial but strong MRP ERP systems experience is essential. The successful Materials Manager will be responsible for providing materials availability for projects and fleets.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the flow of materials, equipment, goods, supplies, etc., from suppliers.

  • Continuously reviews and plans requirements for purchasing materials.

  • Prepare negotiations of contracts for goods, services, suppliers, equipment related to materials, transportation and storage.

  • In logistic administration, monitors contractual obligations for compliance to support superior.

  • Participate in the evaluation of vendor performance.

  • Coordinate and control the materials planning function.

  • Ensure that materials of the required standard are available at the production facility to meet the requirements of the maintenance operation.

  • Provide materials management and procurement support for the designated fleet.

  • To provide inventory control and order book management for the rolling stock service business.

  • Providing materials availability for projects and fleets.

Key Skills / Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in Rail materials, stores or engineering position would be ideal but can be open to all industries - manufacturing, food etc.

  • Detailed knowledge of materials and stores management procedures and warranty process

  • Strong ERP MRP system experience

  • Good knowledge of IT systems and software

  • CIPS Professional diploma in Procurement and Supply would be advantageous

  • Self starter to be able to work independently and of own initiative and generate new ideas to the team
