Maths Lecturer
  • Salary Range: £27,425 - £40,369 per annum

We are inviting applications for the position of Maths Lecturer within our Construction Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning support, focusing on Functional Skills and GCSE Maths to learners enrolled in Construction courses. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about mathematics education and is adept at engaging students across various levels of ability.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver inspirational teaching sessions both face-to-face and online, which may include evenings and non-term times.
  • Prepare and adapt teaching resources and assessment materials.
  • Develop and implement Schemes of Work and Schemes of Assessment in line with awarding body standards.
  • Conduct moderation, assessment, and verification activities.
  • Integrate themes of personal development, behaviour, and attitude into the curriculum.
  • Complete administrative tasks essential for the smooth operation of programmes.
  • Conduct student interviews and assessments, and develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
Student Support and Progression:
  • Provide tutorial support, track and review student progress using educational software tools.
  • Offer feedback during one-on-one student progress meetings.
  • Facilitate student progression and career guidance.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is accurately completed for audit and funding purposes.
Recruitment and Promotion:
  • Assist in the recruitment and admission process for new students.
  • Participate in promotional events and contribute to publicity materials to highlight College and departmental activities.
Team Collaboration and Development:
  • Maintain effective communication with team members.
  • Engage in team meetings, course reviews, and evaluations.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and new course initiatives.
  • Advise on resource requirements and undertake course leadership responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • A teaching qualification is desirable.
  • Experience in teaching Functional Skills and GCSE Maths.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Experience in course design and development is advantageous.
