SG's Infrastructure Finance team is a recognised market-leader, assisting clients to acquire and develop assets across the infrastructure sector for many years. This has enabled us to develop a strong franchise across the EMEA region.

The Infrastructure Finance team works across sub-sectors such as Transport, Utilities and Networks, Waste, Water, Energy Transition-adjacent assets, core plus and value add infra. We believe that financing infrastructure is about recognising the inherent defensive characteristics of an asset or a business and structuring to that. We cover most northern European geographies (and other selected regions within EMEA) out of London, offering arranging and advisory products. As a bank and as a team, we are passionate about funding projects that have a positive impact on the planet both from an environmental and social standpoint.

As a result of recent retirements, we are looking to appoint a new Managing Director who can operate as the team deputy bringing fresh ideas, contacts and ways of working to enable us to retain and develop our standing within this space. We are open to hiring either an experienced Director looking to take the next step in your career or an established MD looking for new challenges.

This will be an exciting role offering the opportunity to help shape the team and its strategic direction, bringing energy, commitment and capability. The successful candidate will work with colleagues across various product and sector teams to develop innovative solutions for our clients. You will also have the opportunity to mentor the rest of the team helping them to achieve their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

Origination of new transactions

Development of new client relationships and maintaining existing client relationships

Understanding and strategic consideration of macroeconomic and sectoral trends to develop new situations which will best serve our clients' needs and maintain our market relevance

Raising SG's profile and marketing our capabilities

Deal Execution

Lead multidisciplinary deal teams to deliver best-in-market advisory and arranging outcomes for our clients

Develop and motivate the rest of the team (currently 2 Directors, 2 VPs, 3 Analysts and 1 VIE/intern) leading the deal process

Operational & Managerial Responsibilities

Ensure active control of risks on all new and existing deals

Look at different ways of working that will benefit our clients and the team, for example opening up new markets, providing new solutions, improving efficiency

Ensure regulatory compliance

Be a role model for ambitious team members

Line management responsibilities for some team members

Develop relationships with other teams

Co-operate with other teams across the Bank including product / sector units as well as Risk, Legal and Compliance

Profile required

Experience / Competencies Required
  • Established and relevant client base with proven ability to originate your own deals and clear focus on clients' needs
  • Deep understanding of loan and bond markets, their dynamics and related instruments
  • Credit and structuring capabilities to propose relevant and attractive financing solutions which are tailored to a client or asset
  • Able to communicate complex issues in a concise and easy to understand manner
  • Proven deal execution experience with confidence in managing deal teams / processes through to completion
  • Able to develop relationships both internally and externally based on trust and collaboration with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals
  • Advisory experience (debt or M&A) considered a plus
  • Capacity to understand and manage risks, acting responsibly at all times to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations while always putting customer needs at the forefront of any decisions
