Mechanical Design Engineer

First Achieve is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer on behalf of a leading engineering company specialising in the design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning of advanced vacuum and controlled atmosphere furnace equipment. With over 50 years of expertise, our client is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge technologies for high-performance metals and alloys.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and globally recognised company, based at their European manufacturing site in Motherwell.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce fabrication, layout, schematic, assembly, and sub-assembly drawings, including bill of materials.
• Execute mechanical design and detailing of machined components, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drive systems.
• Perform mechanical design calculations and analysis.
• Utilise AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks (3D) for design work.
• Ensure adherence to engineering schedules for design and detailing work.
• Participate in internal design review meetings and customer discussions.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing teams, customers, and suppliers regarding engineering drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals.
• Occasional travel within the UK and internationally as required.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical parameters and engineering formulas to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Mathcad.
• Familiarity with industry regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects across different disciplines.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.

Qualifications & Benefits:
