Our client, a Maritime and Defence supplier is looking for a Mechanical Draughtsperson to join them on an initial 6 month contract at their site in Rugeley.

  • Due to the nature of the role, applicants must hold the Sole British Nationality and be eligible to obtain SC Clearance.
  • Hybrid working, 2-3 days a week onsite.
  • Inside IR35, in market rates.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed and accurate mechanical drawings for hardware projects using industry-standard CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to translate concepts into comprehensive technical drawings, implementing changes in line with our company change process.
  • Analyse and optimise mechanical designs for functionality, manufacturability, and efficiency.
  • Generate precise documentation to support the manufacturing process, ensuring a seamless transition from concept to reality.
  • Contribute to design reviews, providing valuable insights to enhance the quality and efficiency of mechanical drawings.
  • Select appropriate materials and finishes, considering factors such as durability, cost, and project requirements.
  • Work seamlessly within a collaborative team environment, contributing to the success of various hardware projects.
  • Embrace a variety of mechanical drafting tasks that support projects, showcasing your adaptability and versatility.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, offering your expertise to shape the direction of our projects.
  • Maintain organised documentation in adherence to local operating procedures, implementing changes through our company change process.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • A minimum of HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A collaborative mindset, thriving in an environment that values teamwork and mutual support.
  • Experience in creating detailed mechanical drawings, highlighting your attention to detail and technical proficiency.
  • Sound knowledge of industry standards and best practices in mechanical drafting.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, enabling you to excel in creating accurate and comprehensive drawings.
  • A quick learner with a flexible and adaptable approach to mechanical drafting challenges.
  • Familiarity with design reviews and the ability to contribute valuable insights to improve drawings.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of materials and finishes, enhancing your ability to make informed choices in the drafting process.
  • Experience in designing mechanical components for diverse applications, showcasing your versatility.
  • Proven experience using Solidworks.
