Company Overview: A leading contractor in the thermal insulation industry, known for handling a diverse range of projects from small installations to major contracts worth up to £2 million, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator. The position is based at our office in Romford, where we focus on delivering high-quality and efficient solutions to our clients.
Job Description: The Mechanical Estimator will be pivotal in preparing accurate cost estimates for projects, working closely with internal teams and clients to ensure competitive and comprehensive bids. This role involves a strong emphasis on detailed analysis and effective cost management to support project success from inception to completion.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and identifying key cost factors, such as materials, labor, and time requirements. * Review and assess client requirements and tender documents to ensure thorough bid proposals. * Utilize specialized software for estimation to enhance accuracy and efficiency. * Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. * Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops. * Consult with industry experts to discuss estimates and resolve issues. * Prepare and present reports detailing the outcome of tender processes. * Manage and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing. * Oversee and review contractual agreements, ensuring all parties meet the project's financial conditions.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. * Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency in mathematical estimations. * Detailed knowledge of industry practices and regulations. * Proficiency in estimation software and MS Office. * Robust negotiation and project management skills. * Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively. * Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. * Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the construction or MEP sectors.
