A family-owned company based in West Bromwich, West Midlands, specializes in organo-sulphur synthesis and high-pressure hydrogenation, providing organic chemistry services to a global market. We produce intermediates for the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and specialty chemical industries, among others. Our team of chemists excels in custom synthesis, contract manufacturing, and process optimization.

A position has opened in our Mechanical Department. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled mechanical engineering team within a lower-tier COMAH facility. We seek an experienced, qualified mechanical fitter for an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial equipment, including gearboxes, pumps, mechanical seals, and pipework.
  • Conduct mechanical plant installation and modification work.
  • Execute statutory inspections, pressure testing, plant integrity checks, and commissioning work.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Interpret equipment drawings, manuals, and technical information to support maintenance tasks.
  • Adhere to company safe systems of work and permit to work systems.

Qualifications and Training:

  • Minimum RQF level 3 (e.g., City & Guilds level 3) in Mechanical Fitting/Engineering.
  • Recognized mechanical apprenticeship preferred.
  • Training in MEWP’s, Abrasive Wheels, and Confined Spaces is desirable.
