Mechanical Fitter

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be recruiting a Mechanical Fitter on behalf of a generator manufacturer based in Sheffield 

The Role:
You will be responsible for assembly and testing of small batch production builds, working within a team alongside the Engineers to design, develop and report back on the prototype and production process. 

Salary & Shift:
£30,000- £32,000 DOE 
Monday - Friday 08:00-16:00 

Responsibilities:

• Machine Builds, delivering materials to the ready-for-testing stage using engineering drawings. 
• Small match production: builds, fitting and assembly. 
• Prototype builds. 
• Build readiness: supporting design for manufacture, build processes, quality and safety. 
• Control of build quality: inspecting dimensions and characteristics 
• Developing and recording manufacturing processes to support continuous improvements. 
• Supporting stores function (control of incoming materials and production orders)
• Recording day to day activities: route cards and timesheets 
• Performing general maintenance tasks to ensure an efficient, safe, and clean workshop environment.

Experience:

• Strong practical mechanical fitting skills (electrical skills are advantageous)
• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and instructions 
• BTEC Level 3 or Equivalent 
• Experience in prototyping. 
• Experience in small batch manufacturing / production environment. 
• Involvement in the manufacture of electrical or rotating machines in advantageous 
• Experience in lean manufacturing environment is advantageous.
• Experience with winding, impregnating and assembly of high strength magnets is advantageous.  
• Ability to operate manual machine tools preferred but not essential. 
• IT Skills (Outlook, Teams, Word & Excel) 
• Strong teamwork capabilities 
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
