Our small but dedicated team work closely together, using each other’s strengths and skills to manage the daily challenges that arise, dealing with each new delivery.
No two days are the same, so this provides challenge and variety in a fast paced continually evolving Distribution Centre.
Your contractual location will be our Distribution Centre in Melksham and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. Working 37.5 hours per week Monday -Friday 7am-3pm, you’ll report to the Mechanical Handling Equipment Team Leader.
You’ll follow set processes and use a range of mechanical equipment to enable the Trust’s distribution centre to work efficiently; off-loading/loading delivery vehicles, replenishing pick faces, and collating loads in a safe and efficient way ready for delivery to National Trust properties.
You will ensure that daily cleaning processes are followed to ensure the safe operation of the site.
You’ll be operating reach and counterbalance forklift trucks as well as powered pallet trucks and will operate these in a safe manner, always following site safety rules. You may also be needed to help with picking at busy times of the year.

To deliver this role successfully, you’ll need to be able to demonstrate the following.
Skills:
•An up-to-date certification in the use of Reach and Counterbalance Fork Lift Trucks and Powered Pallet Trucks
•Ability to demonstrate high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
•Ability to understand, follow and promote strong safety standards
•Builds strong working relationships
•Strong communication skills
Knowledge:
•Awareness of importance of following H&S rules
•Desire to develop knowledge and skills
•Competent IT skills
•Holds up to date certification for use of relevant mechanical handling equipment such as Reach and Counterbalance Forklift trucks
Experience:
•Working in a distribution centre
•Working as part of a team
•Following procedures relating to safe working practices
